Frequently Asked Questions

How many organizations should I be in? This will be different for each student: Some students can be involved in several organizations and still do very well in classes. Some can only be active in one or two. Either is acceptable. The important thing is to find a balance that allows you to have fun, meet new people and also maintain your grades.

How do I join an organization? Each organization has a different process for accepting new members. Many are open to everyone while some are open by invitation only (honor societies, fraternities, etc.) The best way to find out is to contact the organization's president or advisor, look at the organization’s website (if applicable) or MyOrgs description,  look for flyers and digital signage around campus, or attend one of several student organization fairs hosted throughout the year.

How do I find out about specific organizations? Besides using the resources on this website to find out what organizations are here on campus, there are several opportunities to meet organizations. Boro Browse is an involvement fair that happens early each fall semester where local businesses, volunteer agencies, ministries, campus departments and student organizations host an information table. In the fall and spring semesters, the Student Organizations Fair allows student organizations to interact with students. These events are great ways to walk around, see what is available, and interact with a lot of the student organization leaders and others in a fun and social atmosphere!
